This plant is given by the locals as a wedding gift or to new homeowners where money is attached to the branches, hence the name ‘money tree’. Because it can store water, the soil should be left to dry out at least to half of the pot before thoroughly watering letting the water flow through the bottom of the pot for 3-5 minutes or stand in water for no longer than 15-20 minutes, allow to drain before placing back into the outer pot. Use well-draining soil and half strength fertilizer during the summer months. Bright filtered light and high humidity is needed to keep this plant happy and growing.
