Philodendron hederaceum Brazil

Philodendron hederaceum brasil

  • Aka: philo brasil, heartleaf
  • Origin: Central America, Caribbean - toxic
  • Family: Araceae
  • Temperature: 18 - 25°C, Hardiness: 9-11 Humidity 50-80%

This fast-growing aroid is a variegated version of the classic heartleaf philodendron with its distinct, bold markings of lime green to cream coloured swirls midst dark green leaves.

With bright filtered light, the variegation becomes more distinct and higher humidity produces larger leaves. Requires fast draining soil and only water when the top half of the soil is dry or soak for 20 minutes and drain if the leaves are slightly droopy and dehydtrated. Fertilize with prescribed strength liquid feed during the growth period. Propagate by stem cutting in water or looping a vine and pressing the root nodes back into the soil.

Prone to thrips and spider mites.
