Hoya australis

Hoya australis

  • Aka: wax flower, porcelain flower
  • Origin: Indonesia, Australia
  • Family: Apocynaceae
  • Temperature: 16-28°C, Hardiness: 10-12 Humidity: 40-60%

The hoya australis is a slow grower with round, oval shaped dark green shiny leaves.

It is an easy epiphytic plant that enjoys soil that is well draining and allowed to dry out a little before watering thoroughly, do not let it stand in water. Give it a bright filtered light place close to the window and will flower in clusters (umbels) during later May to August. Do not be in a hurry to repot unless it dehydrates too quickly and loses leaves. Feed with liquid fertilizer. Propagate by placing cuttings in water.

Prone to root rot and mealybugs.
